1) I am trying to REGISTER

Don't let this page scare you. It's easier than it looks. Besides, you only have to do it once.

Security - We use the latest technology to keep your information secure. This payment system (called Link) complies with the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council.

User Name - Your user name cannot contain spaces, except for this, it can be anything you want. You will use this user name every time you log in.

Password – Your password must be 7 characters long, but it can be anything you want. When you use your password to log in, you will have to type it exactly as you set it up. This means if you set it up with capital letters or spaces you will have to type it exactly that way when you log in.

Customer and Account Numbers – Your customer and account numbers are located in the upper left corner of your bill. The customer number is 6 digits. Your account number is 9 digits. You must enter all the digits.

Email Address – Anytime you make a change to your account we will send you an email to confirm that it really was you that wanted the change made. For example, when you submit your registration, you will get an email in your email inbox stating that your account was set up. That email will contain a verification code.

Verification Code – We use this to help keep your information secure. After you click the “Register” button at the bottom of the registration page, a code will be sent to you using your email address. After you open this email, you will need to double click on the second and longest web address. This address is the verification code.

After you double click on the web address, you will be directed to a page that says, "Your account has been successfully verified." At this point you can click on the HOME tab at the top of your page and you will go to your personal home page.

If you do not see this email in your Inbox, please check your Junk or Spam folder. Your computer, because it has never received mail from us before, may think our email message is junk mail. If the message is in one of these folders you can still double click on the verification code. We will get your reply.

Security Code – This is different than the Verification Code. When you type the security code into the box and click the register button your computer is letting our computer know that it is a “friendly” computer.

2) I am trying to LOG IN

Username - You set up this name when you registered. It does not contain spaces. It was sent to you in the email you received when we sent you the Verification Code. If you have forgotten your username you can contact us and we can help you.

Password - You set up your password when you registered. It needed to be any seven digits. It was sent to you in the email you received when we sent you the Verification Code. If you have forgotten your password you can click the box that says, "Retrieve Password."  After you complete the requested information, your password will be sent to you at your email address.

Login - Click this button after you have entered your username and password. You will be directed to your personal home page.

Remember Login - For your protection, this option has been turned off.

Retrieve Password - If you click this box, you will be redirected to another page that will ask for some information. After you complete the requested information, your password will be sent to you at your email address.

3) I am trying to PAY MY BILL

Make a Payment – the button is hard to see, but it is the first option on the left side of the screen.  Highlight it and click.

Your Last Payment – is shown in red.  It is there as a reminder of your payment history.

Go – when you click go you will be sent to the section of our website that processes your payment.  The Utility has the very latest security installed.

Payment amount – you are now in the payment section.  It has a little different look than other parts of the website.  You can change the payment amount to any figure between $20.00 and $500.00.

If your bill is greater than $500.00, you will be required to make more than one payment.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but at least the Utility pays for all the transaction fees associated with your payment.  You will not be “dinged” $15 for making an electronic payment.

Pay by Credit/Debit Card – we ask for your email address.  We know you gave it to us when you registered, but this is an additional security precaution.  It also allows us to send a receipt directly to your email.

Pay by E-Check - we ask for additional information with this form of payment for security purposes

4) Understand your METER READING HISTORY

Date - This is the date that your meter was read, not your billing date. Your meter is read in one month. Then we calculate your bill and mail it in the second month.

Meter Number - Every meter in the city has its own number. This is not your account number or your customer number. The meter number is located on the meter's lid or etched into the brass on the meter's base.

Read, Previous and Current - These numbers show how much water has run through the meter. In order to convert this number to gallons you need to add two zeros to the back of the number (multiply by 100). If the number is 1544, it converts to 154,400 gallons.

Days - The number of days between your Current Read and your Previous Read. This number changes because some months have 30 days and others have 31, or because you may have moved in/out during the middle of a billing period.

Consumption - Equals your Current Read minus your Previous Read multiplied by 100. This is the amount of water you used.

Average - Equals the average amount of water you used per day. Residential customers in Waukesha use an average of 154 gallons per day.

5) Understand your USAGE HISTORY

Service Type - The service type defaults to Water because water volume is the only thing your meter measures. The Utility assumes that when you consume water, that water runs into the sewer system and needs to be treated. The amount of water you consume is used to calculate both your water and your sewer bills.

Consumption Comparison - My Street - Unless your street has factories or other businesses on it, this comparison should be meaningful.

Consumption Comparison - My Region - Your region is a geographic area that is defined by the Utility. It is used for billing purposes, and likely has a wide variety of consumers, factories, businesses, etc.

History - Once you have selected a point of comparison, you can choose to look at the history from a previous year by clicking the year in the drop down box.

6) Understand your TRANSACTION HISTORY

Combined Bill - Please remember that the billed amounts are for water and sewer service, combined.

History - You can choose to look at the history from a previous year by clicking the year in the drop down box.
